Looking for an exciting place to explore the unique geology of California’s Central Coast? Join a docent-led walk from the old Steele Ranch to picturesque Cove Beach for an interactive introduction to the geological make-up of our ever-changing shoreline. Along the way you will discover active earthquake faults, ancient fossil beds, forgotten shorelines, and a mysterious river of sand.

Geology walks are given from  March through November. Participants can expect to spend one hour on a scenic, 1 mile excursion down to the beach and back. No RSVP is needed. Families are welcome and the walk is free. Organized groups of 10 or more are required to contact the park to schedule a separate tour.

Meet at the picnic tables outside the Marine Education Center at Año Nuevo State Park. Day use parking fee is $10 per car. Bring a snack, water, and good walking shoes. Rain cancels.
