A diverse array of fun, interactive activities & walks to educate and inspire stewardship of our parks.

Interactive Booths
Learn about our diverse coastal ecosystems in the San Francisco Bay Area and what is being done to protect and preserve them.
 
Try your hand at various interactive activities provided by State Park units, environmental groups and coastside community organizations.

Visit 15 booths, get your event "passport" stamped, and redeem it for a small prize at the Welcome Booth!

Pre-Festival Bird Walk​
Join San Mateo County Bird Alliance for a morning bird walk! Meet near the Venice Beach entrance station.
8:30 - 10:30 am

Nature Walks
State Parks staff will lead walks highlighting the animals and plants that make their homes in our coastal habitat.
10:15 - 11:00am
12:15 - 1:00pm

Free Facepainting by Cassie Levy
Professional face painter will provide wildflower-themed face painting services free of cost to festival-goers.
10 am - 2 pm

Learn Beginner Line Dancing
As part of their set, Coastside Country Line Dancing will teach some beginner line dances for anyone who wants to join!

Native Plant Nursery
Native plants and seeds will be available for purchase at the nursery booth.
Cash, check, or credit card accepted.

Native plant purchases support habitat restoration efforts at Half Moon Bay State Beach and other Coastside State Parks!

Native plants will cost $10 each or $3 for a packet of native seeds.

Please note: There are a limited number of plants for sale, and your favorite may sell out.  So come by early!

HMB High Marching Band
Add some pep in your step in the morning by listening to these talented student performers.

Lighthouse String Band
Traditional Irish and Scottish Celtic music will put a skip in your step as you end your festival day.

Coastside Country Line Dancing
Watch Coastside Country Line Dancing perform some dances to well-loved songs, then join to learn how to do some beginner-level dances! Line dancing is for everyone!
12:45 pm - 2:00 pm

 

Half Moon Bay and the state parks along the San Mateo coast have a colorful array of wildflowers occurring along bluff tops, beaches and in the parks.

Coastal Wildflower Day is co-sponsored by California State Parks and Coastside State Parks Association with support from local community organizations.
